Sunshine Smoothie Recipe
The trick to any deliciously, smooth, smoothie is a powerful blender and freezing your fruit before. I like to chop up all different kinds of fruits into separate zip-lock freezer bags and place them in the freezer over night so that they are ready for many days ahead. I don’t pack them too full so that I can lay the zip-lock flat and spread the fruit evenly to freeze.
What you’ll need
1 ½-2 cups freshly squeeze orange juice
½ cup plain yogurt
½ cup frozen pineapple
½ cup frozen sweet melon
1 frozen banana
2-4 slices of fresh ginger
1 tsp turmeric powder or a few slices of fresh turmeric root
5 black pepper corns
Pour your juice and yogurt into your blender add the banana and turn the blender on. Once the banana has blended add the pineapple, blend and then add the sweet melon.
While the blender is still on add the ginger, turmeric and black pepper corns. Black pepper activates the healthy properties of the turmeric so I always combine the two.
Turn the blender off; give it a stir to make sure there are no chunks of fruit. If there is, turn the blender back on and repeat until all the fruit has blended smoothly. If it’s too thick you can add a little or orange juice or water.
Spoon or pour the mixture into your glass, add a straw and enjoy your yellow smoothie in the sun.
